IRDA was instrumental in bringing together HFF and United States Agency for International Development (USAID), resulting in USAID funding HFF’s Healthcare Financing Delivery Project.
This project was the culmination of two years of extensive research carried out by HFF in order to understand the health needs of, and health service utilization by, rural people, leading to the evolution of a Health Insurance product named ‘Parivar Suraksha Bima’ specially designed for the rural sector. That called for HFF to partner with NGO’s for effective implementation of the product.
Today, a community that was unable to afford any major medical treatment in the past, can access quality treatment at significantly lower costs than it would otherwise. Through this model, Healing Fields provides the following value additions to its stakeholders:
- Cashless admission and personalized guidance during hospitalization.
- Second medical opinion by HFF doctors, thereby ensuring quality treatment.
- Health profiles of every member maintained by HFF.
- No documentation for members/partners to maintain.
An independent external consultant has done an evaluation on the project. The case study is below .
