Mission/Vision

India faces unprecedented health challenges in the 21st century. Large, growing populations, scarce access to primary care facilities, ongoing challenges of infectious and communicable diseases, and dramatic increases in lifestyle illnesses, have all contributed to escalating health care costs – and the vast majority of India’s population does not have access to any form of health care financing or risk-pooling.

Health services are typically financed by out-of-pocket household-level payments, principally for primary or ambulatory care. 001 This has serious implications for the financial security and social welfare of India’s 300 million poor, who often have to borrow at punitively high rates and sell whatever assets they own to cover medical expenses.

Our Vision

Making quality health care affordable and accessible to everybody in India, especially the poor, underprivileged and marginalized sections of our society.

Our Mission

  • Improve access to health care services
  • Use innovative financing for increasing affordability to health care services
  • Improving quality of health care services

Healing Fields focuses its activities on the improvement of health care with no bias against any caste, creed, religion or gender.

Founded in 2002, the Foundation has provided insurance cover to over 65,000 individuals from low income communities across four states in India, in partnership with over 50 hospitals and 19 NGOs. Recognized as a pioneer in the micro-health insurance industry, Healing Fields has created benchmarks and evaluation measures for the improvement of the medical service delivery system for the poor that are in use throughout India.

The Healing Fields Foundation is a not-for-profit organization registered under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 Fasli (Act 1 of 1350 F) vide no. 9879 dated 29th November 2000, to carry out the charitable object set forth in the constitution of the institution.

Healing Fields Foundation is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976. Healing Fields Foundation is also registered under section 12A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and also exemption has been granted under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 to seek donations. The donations made to the trust/fund/society do qualify for deduction in computing the income of a person who makes the donation, i.e., in the hands of the donor. Our Values

Many organizations seek to expand access to quality health care for poor communities. At Healing Fields, we go one step further, aligning everything we do with our core values of Care, Compassion and Sensitivity.

002

Care – Poor communities have few advocates, leaving individuals feeling unprotected and without dignity. Healing Fields recognizes that real change only comes to communities and people who feel cared for and respected.

Compassion – Illness and loss are universal and painful phenomena for all human beings, made worse by poverty, debt and discrimination. Healing Fields’ work is guided by an awareness of the stresses associated with illness and a desire to alleviate associated suffering.

Sensitivity – Healing Fields works in communities without regard to any caste, creed, religion or gender, and we recognize that special attention needs to be paid to traditionally marginalized groups. Together with our partner organizations, we work to ensure that the programs and financing products available to the poor are sensitive to their needs, and effectively alleviate the debt trap.
