Cheekati Ahalya, a member of a self help group in the working area of the NGO called MARI, (in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh) had taken health and personal  accident insurance for which she had paid a premium of Rs.320/- ( the break up being Rs.285/- for health and Rs.35/- for personal accident). She unfortunately died in an auto accident on 26th Mar 06. The nominee was awarded the death benefit Rs.25,000/-. Besides this, the two girl children secured the marriage benefit of Rs.5,000/- each as well as Rs. 5,000/- each towards education coverage.  The total benefit received by the insured family was Rs.45,000/-.

Mr. B. Potha Reddy is a native of Vinayak Nagar in Nizamabad. He came to know about Healing Fields health insurance scheme through Sneha Society for Rural Reconstruction and enrolled himself and his family members during the last week of December 2006. On 27 January 2007, his wife Mrs. Sumana was admitted in Pragathi Hospital which is the networked hospital in the town for abdominal pain. She was diagnosed to be having ‘Renal Calculi’ and was treated with surgical procedure (stenting). She was discharged on 1 February 2007. She had to bear only Rs. 1880/- as co-payment and had benefited to the extent of Rs.7173/-including Rs.160/- towards post hospitalization medicines.

     

S. Muttamma a resident of Narasingapeta village in Khammam district, is a member of tribal groups belonged to LITDS. She has joined the health insurance scheme offered by Healing Fields by paying Rs.336/- as annual premium. They have to travel 40 kilometers to avail any health services in the government hospitals and it used to take around 8-10 days to get well. On 15 January 07, she was admitted in Healing Fields network hospital with fever and it was diagnosed to be Cerebral Malaria. Immediate treatment was given and the patient was discharged on 7th day. The family benefited an amount of Rs. 3123/- on this hospitalization, because of health insurance. Also the patient was given post hospitalization medicines worth Rs.73/- and transport benefit of Rs.300/- in additional to the wage compensation of Rs. 500/-.

Mr. G. Ajay's mother Mrs. G. Suvartha is a member of groups in the working area of PSS (in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh).  She joined the health insurance scheme offered by Healing Fields on 29th October 05. Ajay was admitted in the hospital for stomach pain. He was diagnosed as having ‘Acute Appendicitis’ and treated with surgical procedure. The member paid Rs.1433/- as co-payment and benefited worth Rs.4502/- (including post hospitalization medicines).
